Dayle Lynch shortlisted for inspirational award
Dayle Lynch, an Associate Director at estates consultancy Sewell Advisory, has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.
Dayle, who is based in Leeds, is nominated as Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Champion of the Year at the Inspiring Women in Property Awards.
She was nominated for her work in raising awareness of EDI at Community Ventures, becoming the Equality and Diversity Champion for the company alongside her normal day-to-day role, and developing a plan to help increase diversity.
Initiatives the company has implemented over the past year included:
- A dedicated EDI awareness month, organised by Dayle, with daily digestible emails raising awareness of different diversity issues
- Flexible contract arrangements, to allow people with family or caring responsibilities to work term time only
- Development of a graduate scheme, as a proactive way to introduce more young people into the workplace
- Providing mentorship and support to young people in the industry
- Being assessed as Gold standard at a recent Investors in People assessment, with assessors citing the focus on EDI as being a key factor
- Tracking and monitoring diversity and inclusion metrics so we can understand and track our contribution towards a diverse workforce
As a result of these measures, the average age in the workforce has decreased by six years in the past twelve months, the number of people identifying as being from an ethnic minority background increased by 10%, and the number of women in the team has also increased.
Dayle said “It’s an honour to be recognised, but the thing I’m most excited about is how engaged everyone has been in our EDI work, and the progression and positive improvements we’ve seen since bringing more diversity to our team. It’s so important that we are all able to live in a fair and just society within which everyone’s free to be their authentic self, whether at home or work, and we want to play our part in creating a world that doesn’t limit the ability to achieve because of people’s specific characteristics or life circumstances.”
Emma Bolton, Chief Executive of Sewell Advisory, said: “I’m so proud of Dayle for her nomination for this award. She truly embodies the spirit of EDI, and she’s taken staff on a journey to embed EDI into all that the company does, with excellent tangible results. Her dedication, passion and enthusiasm for EDI has brought about real change in the organisation.”
Our company has also been nominated for EDI Programme of the year, with the winners of both awards being announced at the awards ceremony in London in October.
